His research interests are largely focused on monitoring of ARDS and mechanical ventilation. Since October 2015 he is chairman of the Acute Respiratory Failure Section of ESICM. He is co-PI of the LUNG SAFE study, whose main manuscript was published in 2016 on JAMA. He has authored about 80 peer-reviewed papers and about 10 book chapters. He is co founder of reviewercredits.com
