Title: From Classics to Cutting Edge: Liver Failure in the ICU
ISRRS x SICM Webinar
Title: Rapid Response Systems in the Asia Pacific Region
Speakers from Australia, China, Japan & Singapore
Inhospital cardiac arrests are often preceded by deterioration in vital signs. This offers a window of opportunity to intervene with a skilled expert clinical team, to reduce morbidity and preventable inpatient mortality. Rapid Response Systems (RRS) provide an effective structure to activate assistance, assemble clinical teams to treat and evaluate outcomes for improvement. While RRS are commonplace in the US, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, it is still relatively less prevalent in Asian countries. This webinar brings together experiences of RRS practitioners and leaders from around the Asia Pacific region, and will provide participants with knowledge, insights and encouragement to design, implement and improve RRS in their hospitals. Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Doctors who are interested, have heard of or encountered Rapid Response Teams at their hospitals will also find this webinar useful

SICM TALKSHOWS/WEBINARS EPISODE
SICM Talk Show/Webinar Episode 1: Managing BSI in Critical Care in the Post-COVID-19 Era
We hope you have enjoyed the SICM-IFA+WSACS Webinar that was brought to you on 17 June 2023.
With all your continuous support, our next two talk show episodes will be held over two Saturdays, focusing on interesting topics.
SICM Talk Show/Webinar Episode 1: Managing BSI in Critical Care in the Post-COVID-19 Era
29 July 2023 (Saturday), 2.30 pm (SGT/UTC +8)
Synopsis: Bloodstream infections (BSIs) are a serious health concern in intensive care units, affecting millions of patients worldwide. BSIs are challenging to diagnose and treat, often resulting in prolonged hospitalisation, multi-organ failures, increased healthcare costs, and high mortality rates. In the post-COVID-19 era, managing BSIs has become even more complex due to several factors, including the continuous increase of antimicrobial resistance. Though the COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant damage to antimicrobial stewardship efforts, it also provided opportunities to try new approaches to managing critical infections, such as BSI, in the post-COVID-19 era. Strategic use of new rapid diagnostic tools to identify critical organisms and their antimicrobial resistance markers, combined with choosing the right antimicrobial treatment, will be explored by the experts during this talk show.

SICM Talk Show/Webinar Episode 2: Managing Pneumonia in Critical Care in the Post-COVID-19 Era
With all your continuous support, our next two talk show episodes will be held over two Saturdays, focusing on interesting topics.
SICM Talk Show/Webinar Episode 2: Managing Pneumonia in Critical Care in the Post-COVID-19 Era
5 August 2023 (Saturday), 2.30 pm (SGT/UTC +8)
Synopsis: Pneumonia is one of the most common infections globally and is associated with high mortality and healthcare expenditure, especially in the elderly, immunocompromised, and critically ill patients. The complexity of managing pneumonia in the post-COVID-19 era has also increased due to changes in etiology and the continually increasing antimicrobial resistance. COVID-19 has also highlighted the importance of timely and accurate diagnosis of pneumonia, particularly for the correct identification of etiological agents in order to choose appropriate treatment. Newer tools such as rapid molecular diagnostic tests promise to offer advantages such as direct detection of the most common pathogens along with selected resistance markers of bacterial pathogens from lower respiratory samples. The risk of MDRO infection in high-risk patients always poses a challenge to clinicians in choosing the best antimicrobials. In this episode, the experts will review the challenges of managing pneumonia in critical care in the post-COVID-19 era by utilising newer diagnostic tools in choosing the most appropriate antimicrobials.
